Exam Workshops – Subject Matter Experts

Workshop Types

• Item (question) writing and review
• Passing score setting
• Clinical vignette writing and review
• Examination construction

Compensation

• Variable, depending on workshop length and complexity (generally $200-300 per day)
• Travel reimbursements provided for participants who travel 50+ miles, each way.

Qualifications

• Current LMFT, LCSW, LPCC or LEP license, in good standing
• No prior or pending disciplinary actions, enforcement actions, or investigations
• Perform twenty to forty hours of training, supervision, education
• Clinical experience (minimum 10-hours face-to-face counseling per week)
• LMFT, LCSW, and LPCC must be licensed for 2 years
• LEPs: Be currently practicing as an LEP
• Must be a California resident

Participate

• Licensees must complete the Subject Matter Expert application and submit to ExamSME@dca.ca.gov
• Board notifies licensee of eligibility
• Licensee must sign agreement to not engage in related exam coaching/preparation activities
